How does SteadyMD online urinary tract infection (UTI) care work?
Online visits are available 24/7, no in-office or video appointments necessary. Start by registering on SteadyMD's website, then complete a short online questionnaire about your symptoms and health history. A U.S.-based licensed healthcare provider will review your information and use evidence-based guidelines to develop a personalized treatment plan. The SteadyMD provider will message you when your treatment plan is available, usually within 2 business hours. If the treatment plan includes a prescription, we will send it directly to your local Walgreens or preferred pharmacy for convenient, same-day pickup, if available.
What do I need to get started?
Online visits usually take 5–10 minutes. You’ll need to complete a short questionnaire about your symptoms and health history, provide a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport), and add a credit card for payment.
What kind of urinary tract infection treatment can I get?
Your personalized treatment plan is based on your unique medical history. This may include recommendations for at home care, treatment (including prescriptions if appropriate), and tips for UTI prevention in the future. Commonly prescribed medications include Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid), Fosfomycin (Monurol), Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim, Septra), and Pyridium (Azo). Treatment is only available for simple, uncomplicated UTIs. If you currently have a fever or severe back pain, have had four or more UTIs in the past 12 months, or if you are on a daily antibiotic to prevent UTIs, this service is not for you.
Does SteadyMD offer UTI treatment for men?
No, our telehealth treatment is only available for patients assigned female at birth. If you are experiencing painful urination, blood in your urine, or other UTI symptoms, and you were assigned male at birth, please consult an in-person healthcare provider.
Can I pay the visit fee with my insurance?
You must pay the fee with a credit card during the online visit, and it is not covered by insurance. This fee may be FSA or HSA eligible. You should check with your card's bank or benefits administrator. If medication is prescribed, you will need to pay the pharmacy for the medication at pickup. Depending on your insurance, the cost of the medication may be covered.
